FAQs

1. Can I talk to my therapist before I start therapy sessions?

All Therapists at Tree of Life Psychology offer a free 15-minute telehealth (video or phone) session to introduce themselves, to ask you about your goals/ hopes for therapy, and to see if the therapist has the right skills and knowledge to support you.

2. What is the difference between a Registered Psychologist (R.Psych) and a Registered Provisional Psychologist (P.Psych)?

A Registered Psychologist has completed all of the requirements to be fully licensed (as determined by the College of Alberta Psychologists) and can practice independently. A Registered Provisional Psychologist (or Provisional Psychologist) has completed at least a Master’s degree in Counselling/ Psychology and is in the process of completing all of the requirements to be a R.Psych; until they have completed all of the requirements, they must be supervised by an R.Psych who has been fully registered for at least 5 years.

3. How much does counseling cost?

Fees reflect the recommended fee structure of the Psychologists' Association of Alberta.

Most extended benefit providers or Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) cover some or all of the cost of therapy. Please check with your benefit plan to see how much they cover per session and per year. Fees for psychological services may be claimed under tax deductible health care services on your annual tax return.
